Hey guys,
with Easter coming I've been meditating some and been reminded of the wonder of what this season means. where would we be as Christians were it not for Christmas and Easter? Being the writer that I am, I wanted to share with you some of my poetry. I pray that it will stir your hearts to a greater understanding and appreciation of our wonderful Savior, as it did for me in writing them.
I'll list some separately, as one is rather long.
---------------

Easter comes and reminds me
That Jesus came
For times like these
When human hearts
Need forgiveness and peace.

Nailed

The nails, the hammer,
The sound pierces my heart.
Though long ago,
I took part.

My sin, to my shame,
Was what pierced His hands.
I drove the nails
Into this man.

Not just His hands,
His heart pierced to the core,
For one like me
The price He bore.

Yet He came, He went
To the cross to bleed,
Poured out His life
All for me.

Oh such love!
Beyond comprehension!
What He bore for
My remdemption!

I hear, I see,
I feel Jesus' pain
And because I do,
I'll never be the same.

The Ashes of My Heart

I came to you, O Lord,
With nothing much left.
A life turned upside down,
Broken and bereft.

I once tried to reach you
Through work of my own,
Living up to "the rules"
Yet true faith unknown.

I sang songs about You,
Your love and Your power,
Yet 'twas just words to me
As my life turned sour.

I tried all the harder
To do as I ought;
But God's love for each one
Just cannot be bought.

The days came up empty
Again and again
As I sought for solace
'Mongst knowledge and friends.

The knowledge I attained,
Yet I groped at air.
My soul hungered for something
That just wasn't there.

The friends that I acquired,
Dearest to my heart,
They came up short to me,
Could not fill the part.

See, I was unaware
That I'd missed the boat.
Thinking I was on it,
I followed my own route.

Man is but the created;
Imperfect, born in sin.
His heart is made of stone,
His spirit dead within.

This state of life we share
Comes from fathers' past.
The price of sin is death.
To hell death is cast.

So God sent His own Son
To live here on earth
That man might have the way
To spiritual rebirth.

Jesus Christ, God's Own Son,
Lived here and died.
Hung on a Roman cross,
He was crucified.

The perfect Sacrifice,
God-man, without blame.
He paid for all our sin,
Felt our hurts and shame.

His blood-shed paid the price,
the road to heaven paved.
We are to but trust Him,
And from hell be saved.

'Twas Satan's pathway
That I actually trod
For he deceives man's heart
Leading away form God.

When I came to my end
Seemed of time and space,
Confusion left my soul,
God's peace took it's place.

The ashes of my heart
He took in His hand.
What once was so dear
Was now nothing but sand.

Knowledge meant nothing
Without light of His Word.
Though to my ears it came,
It was never heard.

The friends had come and gone
That I held so dear.
But Jesus came within
Forever to be near.

See 'twas simply a gift
that day given to me,
My soul's eternal life
Bestowed full and free.

Nothing that I had done
Brought Him to my side
But my broken plea for help
As to Him I cried.

He draws us to Himself.
The price of sin was paid.
The blood of Jesus Christ
Washes sin away.

We do not lose-but gain!
New lfe is in store.
His love fills hearts' voids
Empty nevermore.

A new heart given me,
His Spirit within dwells.
No more death but life!
Doth my countenance tell?

He has given beauty
To replace ashes.
Healed wounds of the heart
Were once open gashes.

'Tis the great Physician,
The balm of Gilead,
Who binds the broken heart
Of one who once was sad.

Each day I learn anew
Of all He's done for me.
He'll do the same for you,
Just ask Him-and see!

He'll take you as you are-
the ashes of your heart,
He'll give you something better-
A new life to start!

Easter is a special time for us as Christians isn't it?

Because He lives I CAN face tomorrow!
