A friend here at work is a HUGE Red Sox fan. I've liked them for a long time too. Not many baseball fans around here though. And none of my friends are sports fans of anything. always were complaining abt the guys hogging the TV. I'd have rathered watch the game than listen to the latest Oprah recap. (nothing against Oprah she just doesn't hit home runs.) Baseball is my favorite both to watch and play (or at least try to play) Most of the women's leagues here are slow pitch...well it will do since there isn't anything else. I hope to join a team next yr...but...shift work...kids...hmmm. Maybe I'm just chickening out thinking I'll make fool of my self, and probably will. After all I'm closer to pension than grad. Hockey is also is a passion but big$. Razz

Huge Sox fan here. It was great to see them win but for me it was better seeing my player Yooouk get gold glove. lol I am a New England Teams nut. Now that the Sox are done, it is Patriots season. Anyways God Bless you all.

Yeah... at least now I know I'm not the only Red Soxs & major league baseball fan around. I love the Jays too. I'm Canadian after all but they haven't fielded a TEAM in years. I even named my son after one of thir players back in the glory years in the early 90s.
Shy-one someday you will have to see REAL football Canadian style. If you can't get it done in 3 downs here too bad! Welcome

Red Sox and the north. That always brings a touch of home to me. Women after my own heart!
I used to play sports growing up and in college intramurals. Loved softball. but I too don't know if I'd dare play now. I used to always end up hurting myself somehow. Now in my 40's just getting around the bases would be an victory! I"m sadly out of shape.

Hey Nancy
I think I got a year or so on you. I was 43 in August. Maybe you CAN still do it. Just do itwas the old Canadian partcipaction promotion years ago. I actually got back into sports by coaching my kids teams for 5 years. Now they have lost interest in ball, but I haven't. My co-worker (who is 20) really wants me to join them. Maybe they need a token mature adult but I'll bite. I'm sure just getting out there and meeting new people will be great. And if nothing else I'll get some exersize and meet more people to pray for!

Hi Nancy!
Well just remember it's never too late! So you really do have me beat. That's ok I think women's lives actually only BEGIN at 40. No offense Shy One. We DO get better with age! Did anyone say play ball? Here it would be snow balls...but a good snowball fight IS fun too. Big Grin. 3" of the white stuff so far...I guess it IS winter. And here come the Christmas Carols

Cool, snow! I miss snow. We haven't had any here in SC for about ...5 years. I do remember it was January. Christmas always semms like its missing something down here, having grown up with white Christmases. (Except one year, I remember we had 65 degree weather one Christmas-in MAassachusetts)

It's COOL alright a balmy 6.6 degrees F! Don't even ask me to spell that! LOL.
In our sane northern system (Celcius) that is -14. Zero being our freezing mark.
On the bright side where I live we don't have rats, os poisonous snakes or insects Big Grin

I have to say, some of the better softball player are the aged ones, no offense. After college I wanted to play so bad, my uncle let me join his co-ed 40+ team, which was taking younger members just to get enough players. Some of the older players were amazing, so nancy go for it.

Smile Thanks for the cheerleading! Smile I must say I'd probably be a little out of practice, but maybe it's like riding a bike.

I'm still "thinking" about joining the young girls team that a co-worker plays on. However I'm on holidays for July so that takes out a lot of the season. But may still fill in the rest of the season. What about the rest of you?

Well the field near me is trying to get a co-ed league and a womens league going this summer, so unless my health doesn't allow me again this year, I am definately playing both.
