colloquial english always makes me giggle, when we first moved to the farm, the local farmers kept going on about buying "yawhs" at the market, my parents spent a fair few weeks being very confused about this strange animal everyone seemed to have until they finally worked out they were talking about ewes (female sheep)
when i read some of my posts i think i sound so serious when in real life i'm not.i laugh a lot and have a lot of fun around people. i have a quick wit and love to be around people who laugh.
on the other hand sometimes i can be quite dutch. growing up with dutch parents who 'say what they mean and mean what they say' has had an effect on me. chris just laughs when i come out with stuff that sounds very blunt and says 'boy you're sounding dutch today'. not that dutch people aren't funny, my mother is hilarious. they just have a way of saying stuff that might be put a little more delicately than just blurted out.
my online name? at first i was flamo which was just a short form of flannigen's mom. after flan died i didn't like using it so i went to jones. i like having names that don't sound too feminine on boards (not just here), it helps keep the wolves away.
anyways, i'm rambling so i'll go get more coffee...
Being a very sarcastic person much of the time and using facial expression and voice intonation to communicate, online communication can give me some trouble. Sometimes when I type things, I am too much too the point where as if I am communicating face to face, I can read the person's face and make sure I am not too blunt. I guess I am still trying to figure out how to put intonation into something and not be misinterpreted.
My screen name is after my beloved cat that was the reason my wife and I met. He was diabetic and she had a diabetic cat too!!
I usually only post to the light hearted ones because once I relied pretty bluntly to a gal that wanted to know what to do about her ex stalking her. After being a cop for 22 years, I gave her serval choices and got blasted by a ton of people for not having any compassion, blah, blah, blah. Anyhoo, I know I'm cop "broken" so try to keep it lite.....
As for some.....DewDoc....she's even crazier in person, I think the word is feral..... Kimmie.......what you read is what you get....can't run nor rope a dummy steer...Linda aka Bear.....She's very proper at all times.....lol.....Elaine and her wife....very cool
As for my on line name....it's my main barrel horse's nickname.....Here's the real Rio....

Oh, don't rephrase things, Wanderer & cellist! We love to try to figure out what you really mean! And the Zimbo gals have come up with some really entertaining turns of a phrase over the years, you know! We've even picked a few of them up. Just yesterday, I called my brother & said, "I'm calling to jolly you up!" And Jones, I would say my Irish grandmother was about as blunt as your Dutch relatives & I inherited that from her apparently, so I feel your pain on that. I freak my "politically correct" business associates out a bit but I think it's a waste of time to not say what you think--Ha! As to Rio's remarks about my being crazier in person.........In all honesty, I can't disagree.

Groucho I don't think you come across that sarcastically at all! But then again I'm used to my wife... after 20 years her jokes are still delivered with such a 'dead pan' straight face that I still take her seriously. I think she finds that even funnier! As for "cool" (Rio)? I've never been cool in my life! Lol! I'm the epitomy (sp?) of 'un-cool'. Now my wife on the other hand is coooool. Of course I find THAT funny and give her the 'you-know-what' about it! My impressions? Rio and her wife have their act together. Anybody who can wrestle big horses, big horse trailers etc.. all around the country has to have more than a dash of self confidence and can back it up. Groucho? Just about the nicest person you would ever want to meet. Between Groucho and my wife I think they could single handedly save the world. If not, I think they'd try. Me? I guess I'm a fairly serious person - at least on-line. In person I can get very passionate about things I believe in (my wife would just say 'I talk a lot' - which I can!) and I laugh a lot.

I would agree that Rio is very down-to-earth & capable, somebody you would call in an emergency without a second thought. (Guess it's that police background....) The Zimbo gals are every bit as goofy IRL as they are online...Still waiting to get my feral self out & about to meet the rest of you IRL but I feel pretty comfortable that I'll be happy with how the IRL compares to the online personas! Groucho, searcher, the other "Yo-Yo s"... I have a feeling you all would be every bit as entertaining IRL as you are in your posts! And Elaine, Groucho always tells us how much you "rock" IRL & I think you "rock" online, so there! I rest my case!
