To which Bible character(s) do you most relate and why?

Feel free to post something today and then come back and post again. At different stages in our lives, we can really relate to different people.

HMMMMMM

I think I often relate to Peter walking on the water, in Matthew 14:28-31

28"Lord, if it's you," Peter replied, "tell me to come to you on the water."

29"Come," he said.

Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. 30But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, "Lord, save me!"

31Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. "You of little faith," he said, "why did you doubt?"

When I keep my eyes on Jesus, all goes well, but when I stop and look around, and see all the stuff happening around me, I often begin to panic!!

Boy, Groucho, you said just what I feel. My story is always something like: Wow, Jesus, I can just look at you and I will not sink...Oh, look at that wave...Look at that problem...Look at that self-righteous person...Help, Jesus, I'm sinking. And then he lifts me up and I start all over again. Sound familiar to anyone else?

I think I'm sometimes like Jonah. There are times I feel God calling me into a ministry I just don't feel ready to take on. Once there, the ministry is ALWAYS a blessing! I'm glad there isn't any big fish around here that could swallow me!

DEFINITELY Peter! Everything from the "act first, think later" mentality (e.g., cutting the dude's ear off) to being so sure he would hang in there with Jesus till the end, but then denying Him 3 times & being so upset about his (Peter's) humanity & his tendency to screw up....

hmmmm have to think about this we all seem to relate to Peter some of us more than others but there are loads of wonderful people in the Bible who screwed up magnificently but still >>>Look at David OH goodness we could be on to something here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yep, David is the other one who was a MAJOR screw-up! I guess when I think about him I don't necessarily identify with him as much as I'm reassured. I mean, he was described as "a man after God's own heart" IN SPITE OF all the things he did! Shows us that if we're really repentent, God forgives anything!
