My nephew, 7, is just learning about telling jokes. But, he's at the point where he only knows a few real jokes, and then tells a bunch of made up non-sensical ones. Every time he sees me, he has to tell me the same few ones he knows...and then goes into his made up ones. I've starting stopping him as soon as he says "knock knock" and saying "STOP, Is this a real joke, or a fake one??" of course he says it's a real one...even when it isn't....

His favorite real joke is:

KNOCK KNOCK who's there?

BANANA banana who?

KNOCK KNOCK who's there?

BANANA banana who?

KNOCK KNOCK who's there?

BANANA banana who?

KNOCK KNOCK who's there?

ORANGE orange who?

ORANGE YA GLAD I DIDN'T SAY BANANA AGAIN!!

And then....not understanding WHY that joke is funny (play on words)...he then tells this next one...every time:

KNOCK KNOCK who's there?

ORANGE orange who?

KNOCK KNOCK who's there?

ORANGE orange who?

KNOCK KNOCK who's there?

ORANGE orange who?

KNOCK KNOCK who's there?

BANANA banana who?

BANANA YA GLAD I DIDN'T SAY ORANGE AGAIN!!

Everytime he tells that, it cracks me up!! Anyone else out there have some silly kids jokes to share?

shy

Hi Shy,

I love it when kids go through the 'joke' stage and they don't quite understand what makes a good joke. You have to laugh at their home-made jokes because they are so awful!

Here's one from a book I keep hearing-
Knock knock!
Who's there?
Will you remember me tomorrow?
Yes!
Knock, knock!
Who's there?
Will you remember me next week?
Yes!
Knock, Knock!
Who's there?
You said you'd remember me! Roll Eyes

What's a slug?
A snail with a housing problem.

(the following is not a joke - so don't expect a punch line!)
Does anybody actually like slugs though? I was putting out some bedding plants yesterday, which had been left on the ground for one night, and they were absolutely covered in slugs. I can cope with snails, because they look quite cute and are often used in children's story books e.g. something like Sammy the snail, but you never see books about Sammy the slug! They really make me shudder.I put them all in a flower pot , then threw them into the wood. What does everyone else do about slugs - suggestions appreciated (slug bait is not an option for the amount of slugs I get in my garden)

Hee hee hee...
I have a friend who is terrified of slugs so I know a few methods of getting rid of them.
Sink some empty yoghurt pots into the garden and put beer in them. Slugs like beer.... fall in.. get drunk.. die happy.
Gravel around your flowers (or sand). Slugs hate the dry gritty surface and should leave your plants alone.
If you have plants in pots, put a thin strand of copper wire around the rim. It's worked a treat for one of my friends..don't know why.
Apart from that, buy a slug eating bird, or invest in a large bag of salt.....

While the topic is on slugs. Did you know there is a college in the western U.S. whose mascot is the banana slug?

Also, in Alaska there are some really HUGE slugs, the size of the average cigar. My favorites were leopard slugs, as they are kind of yellow with green spots.

I think slugs are kind of neat. I know, most people hate 'em. I've never been much of a gardener, so maybe that's why I kind of like 'em. I have heard that licking a slug will make your tongue numb. Ewwwwww!

What animals in Noah's Ark didn't come in pairs?
Worms, they came in apples.

Thank you Wanderer for the useful tips. I might try all 5 at once! And Thank you Searcher for the interesting facts about slugs. I am definately not going to test the theory about slug licking though [shudders]

Hi Shy - are you able to put any pictures up of the slugs that Searcher mentioned - I would love to see a beautiful slug -maybe it would change my opinion of them. Don't worry if you're too busy. Smile

Love Ajay

Ajay,

LOL! That is a great idea. I must admit that I never imagined just a few years ago that one day I might be posting a picture of a leopard slug on a GLBT website. We are a very cool, and very interesting bunch of people here, you know?

Hello Shy,

Thank you so much for taking the time to post the pictures. They are a lot prettier than English slugs!

Love Ajay (slug convert) Smile

Prejudice? Me?! Li'l ol' me?!!! Hmmmm, yup, I guess it's me alright! Just can't find anything beautiful about 'em.

As for kid jokes, here's one from my daughter's favourite kids show, "Zoom" on PBS:

"Why do Bees have sticky hair?"

"Because they use HONEY COMBS!!!!!"

Groan, groan, groan...

Anyone else?

Shy, I think I read one post from Rose saying that you were something of a computer whizz. That's why I asked for your help! Smile Hope you don't mind.
