So what songs get stuck in your head on a typical day? I seem to have certain ones, like "I Feel Pretty," "The Oscar Meier Weiner Song," "Susie Snowflake" and "John Jacob Jingleheimer Smith." And one day it was just a single line out of one song...."I'm not crazy, I'm just a little unwell." OVER and OVER and OVER.....

Try a Dew, Tiggertoo, then think about this one...Hay diddle diddle the cat and the fiddle the cow jumped over the moon.......I found myself singing that one to my dogs as I walked from the garage to the house tonight. Or even, Little Bunny Foo Foo, Have you or Doc heard that one?(an old camp song)
My partner and I sing this one,
Oh we ain't got a barrel of money,
Maybe we're ragged and funny, but we'll travel along singin our song, side by side Razz
Oh My, "John Jacob Jingleheimer Smith" does come running through my head on occasion.

So Doc what about the dream job thread have you decided where to put it? I came here looking for that when I stumbled on to this.

Good night, sleep tight, pleasant dreams to you....... Big Grin

Big Grin Oh Doc,
I can't believe it!!! You know Susie Snowflake? Dressed in a snow white gown? I used to watch that cartoon on Garfield Goose when I was a kid. Tigger and I went through the broadcast museum in Chicago in July and I told her about all the kids shows we used to love. That was one of my favorite cartoons and songs of all times. I'm from a family of 10 kids, so we play that song at X'mas time, and Hardrock, Cocoa and Joe too!!! LOL. You must be close to our age. A very young 48!!!

I love "Little Rabbit Foo-Foo!" Our babysitter used to sing it to us all the time! Forgot about that one! As far as the hotdog song, I remember, "Fat kids, skinny kids, kids who climb on rocks, Tough kids, sissy kids, even kids with chicken pox...." Does that sound right? And Rose, I'm 47 so yes, we ARE the same vintage! Sweet Spirit, I would've loved to have seen your Dad's face when you started singing that in the Mall! Ha! O.k., here are some more....Theme from The Flintstones and Theme from Gilligan's Island! Or how about, "Mr. Sun, Sun, Mr. Golden Sun, hiding behind a tree....These little children are asking you, Please come out so we can play with you....." (from my son's KG field trips) or "....come out and play with me, lalalalalala, climb up my apple tree. Slide down my rain spout, lalalala cellar door...and we'll be jolly friends, forever more!" Heard that one, Rose? I forget the name of it and a lot of the words, obviously!

And you don't even want to get me started on what all I sing to my puppy when we're driving to his vet appointments, etc......YEP....."And they called it PUPPY LOVE....." He also likes "Muskrat Susie, Muskrat Sam, Do the jitterbug in Muskrat Land...." More pet abuse, right? He seems to love it, though! And old John Denver songs put him to sleep right away!

He also likes to fall asleep to "In the Sweet By and By," an old family lullaby tradition. I'll shut up now. Won't you all be glad when I get back to work next week? Wink

I know "Playmate, come out and play with me. Climb up my apple tree. Slide down the cellar door. ETC."
Is Susie Snowflake from the Midwest?
When you talk about theme songs: How about "Green Acres"?
Now, not a song, but when I was young in NY there was a show that they used to tell you to put your thumbs in the corners of your mouth and turn them up because "A smile is the magic key to the Wonderful Magic Toyhouse." Anyone know that one? It would be the mid 50s early 60s. There was a man and woman who "hosted" the show.

And when you don't know the words for the songs, just do like my wife and make up your own.

For all who have been to Disney World, I'm sure you'll recall that incredibly irritating song "It's a Small World" that keeps playing over and over and over and AAAAAHHHHHH! Eek Eek

DewDoc, you ACTUALLY sing "Puppy Love" to your dog???!!! Roll Eyes Oh, and isn't John Jacob what's-his-face's last name Schmidt? Maybe the Smith guy is his cousin. Big Grin

While we get nostalgic, does ANYONE remember a little TV cartoon that was about a sweet little turtle named Tooter (or Tutor)? I LOVED Tooter the Turtle, but none of my friends can remember it. I KNOW I'm not dreaming. Mad Confused

Oh, thanks a lot, searcher! "It's A Small World" is one of those that's almost impossible to get out of your head once you get it started! Wink You're probably right about the Schmidt dude; oops! I don't remember Tooter the Turtle, sorry. I DO remember Rocky & Bullwinkle, but that might date me. When I was waiting for my puppy to get out of his surgery, there were old Rocky & Bullwinkle cartoons on the TV at the hotel. I was laughing hysterically all morning--forgot how funny they were!

DewDoc,
this morning at 5:45... I was singing the Armour hotdog song to Rose... and the little bunny foo-foo song too.... geeze lousie.

As for singing to the dogs... my dogs love it when I sing to them. Sometimes they join in and sing along :-)) One of our favorites is the puppy version of if your happy and you know it.... Wag your tail, If your happy and you know it say Arf-Arf, and the 3rd verse is.... If your happy and you know it spin around... My dogs are happy and they tell everyone how happy they are.

"Home, Home on the Range" is another one that can get stuck, and the dogs love to chime in on that one.

G&P,

Tiggertoo

Tigger,

I like the puppy version!! Speaking of singing to animals, one of my friends used to sort of hum the "Bonanza" theme and her kitten would come bounding down the hallway, meowing with excitement.

Ugh, I heard one of those songs on the radio this morning and now it has returned. Oh no. It's from the 80's I think. The chorus goes something like "The tide is high but I'm holding on. I'm gonna be your number one....". Anyone remember it? Good, now you can join me in being IRRITATED by it. Roll Eyes

I like that puppy version--"If you're happy & you know it, wag your tail...." Too cute! I think singing "Little Rabbit Foo-foo" before 6 AM is just a little DISTURBED, though. Wink How about "Rawhide?" Rollin', rollin', rollin'......Smile

Here is the song that is currently stuck in my head. Don't ask me how it got there, I don't know...but it is there and won't go away. I finally gave into it and found it online so I could listen to it. I've listened to it about 15 times in the past 3 hours. *sigh*

Only a boy named David
Only a little sling
Only a boy named David
But he could pray and sing
Only a boy named David
Only a rippling brook
Only a boy named David
But five little stones he took.

And one little stone went in the sling
And the sling went round and round
And one little stone went in the sling
And the sling went round and round

And round and round
And round and round
And round and round and round
And one little stone went up in the air
And the giant came tumbling down.
