(Thanks Katie42)
When I was little I had an ABC Scripture book that I pretty well memorized. When I had trouble falling asleep I would say it to myself and I'd fall asleep having said the whole alphabet. I still to this day practice that exercise to fall asleep. Sometimes during the day I run them through my head if I'm stressed, or whatever. Anyways, here goes... Don't worry about references or versions. I grew up quoting King James so that's most familiar to me. "Ask and it shall be given unto you, seek and ye shall find, knock and the door will be opened unto you." This message has been edited. Last edited by: Jones, |

Jones: I was going to "release time" Bible class when I was in seventh grade and we had a verse each week, and it was alphabetical. I think I made it to "d" and then quit... so here we are:
"Delight thyself also in the Lord; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Psalm 37:4 God bless, Katie Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope." |

Memorizing alphabetically would be a wonderful way to learn scripture. I'd love to have a list of the ones learned as a child, Jones. I might be able to use that with my girls. I used to sing Psalm 100 at church...here is verse 4:
"Enter his gates with thanksgiving; go into his courts with praise. Give thanks to him and praise his name." |

I once memorized all of Phil. 4. Can't do it all now, but it contains so many verses I love. How about this one for what we should be thinking about?
Phil:4:8 Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things. |

This is so great..... not meaning to use a pun for "g". Everyone putting down scripture! How wonderful!
Psalm 145:3 "Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised; and his greatness is unsearchable." and too good not to share also Psalm 48:1 "Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised in the city of our God, in the mountain of His holiness." God bless, Katie Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope." |

No power in the sky above or in the earth below-indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.

"Render"
“ Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's; and unto God the things that are God's.” Matthew 22:21b KJV “ Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's. And they marvelled at Him.” Mark 12:17 KJV “ Render therefore unto Caesar the things which be Caesar's, and unto God the things which be God's.” Luke 20:25 KJV And a note to Jones... found another Quench and thought I'd mention it here: See Hebrews 11:34 “Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens.” Seen in context: Hebrews 11:31-34 “ By faith the harlot Rahab perished not with them that believed not, when she had received the spies with peace. [32] And what shall I more say? for the time would fail me to tell of Gideon, and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jephthah; of David also, and Samuel, and of the prophets: [33] Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, [34] Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens.” I love the "faith" chapter. It makes my faith grow when I see the exploits and the courage of those early Christians. God bless Katie42 Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope." |
