Lead me to a rock that is higher than I; For You are my refuge, a strong tower against the enemy. Psalm 61:2b-3

What was it that would cause a young woman to leap to onto the pavement from a second story rail? What could be so bad that she would destroy herself and traumatize all those around her as though her inner pain had tentacles that reached out to choke those who found her? What was it like to have so little hope that diving face first into the cement was preferable to whatever hell lay within? Perhaps, it was what she did not have; a refuge, a strong tower against the enemy, even if that enemy was within. In my deepest, darkest hours, there was always a pinprick of light for me, and that light was God. I spent so many years void of hope, living from day to day hoping for a way out of the throbbing pain that only seemed to ebb and flow instead of disapear. I knew that girl on the pavement. That girl was once me, only with the tiniest bit of God's light in my soul.
