My son, keep my words and store up my commands within you. Proverbs 7:1
There are times when we read the Bible that we think that there is nothing to learn in a particular passage. Or, that we already know the lesson well enough for it to be redundant. I have read through the entire Bible several times, and I wonder what I can get out of the "begats". I also wonder what I am suppossed to get out of Proverbs 7 which is a directive to young men to avoid the adulteress. I DID wonder about why the woman is portrayed at the crafty adulteress and men are not portrayed as vicious adulterers. After all, you can not be an adultress without an adulterer. This is actually beside the point. Something I may read in the Bible may not have any impact or bearing on my current situation, but down the road it may. I may be faced with this exact same situation, and what I have learned and read about today may be my strength in tomorrow's temptations. This is why the verse says to "store up the commands". What we learn today may be tomorrow's life vest.
