I was reading a book recently, one I probably should not have been reading because the person is quite embittered about her treatment from Christians. (What a wonderful legacy some Christians leave!!!)
One thing she brought up, was that she asked the Lord to rescue her from a sexually abusive older brother, and nothing happened. (Of course, I also felt the Spirit remind me that I was NOT there, either to know exactly what was happening) and wonder, why sometimes when we call out in a true need like that, the Lord does NOT rescue the person immediatly? Like when someone is being raped and murdered? I would imagine many have called out to the Lord in this manner...why doesn't He intervene and give the attacker a heart attack or anyuresm? Why when they are hurting a child or an old person, and they call out to the Lord for help, He is not immediatly there and stop it? I have been reading the Psalms, and David addresses evil persons- I know that the brother that sexually abused the sister eventually ended up in prison, but what about the "now"? I know our generation is programmed for instant gratification, which in the Christian life, is a problem. But there are some very REAL needs. I also imagine that there have been people rescued when they call out to the Lord, but there are also those who aren't. I am not sure I understand this.

Blyth, I really don't know why God allows this kind of evil in the world. I have wrestled with this kind of question for years. My pastor says that God does things we can't understand, and that we just have to keep trusting God anyway, and believing that God loves us and weeps when we are unjustly hurt. Some day, maybe, we will know the plan.

The thing that i think of is that we all have our own free will. Gods biggest problem? Dont know but even the "bad" people have their own will. Just like he cant make us love Him he cant make others not be bad thats their choice. As far as the victims? I dont know why it happens. Why is there handicaped people way are there hermaphradites, babies that die at birth, ect? No matter what we have to trust God, scary when you dont understand but then again we only use 10% of our brains.

I think 10% is an OVERestimate in my case, but it sounds nice...LOL! As to the original question....I keep a Sponge Bob lunchbox on my office desk & inside I put pieces of paper with things written on it that I absolutely do NOT understand & want to someday talk to God about. This is one of the issues in the lunchbox. For what it's worth....

I hope that I do not appear arogant but I would like to offer what I believe to be one of many ideas.

When we accept the Lord as our saviour and enter into a walk and betrothal to him we must remember that wedding vows do say for better or worse.

When the children of Israel left Egypt the Lord allowed their enemies to try them to make sure their love and faith was in him and not conditional. We have been called as a woman forsaken and it would be easy to love our precious Lord in the good time. It's those bad times that show him we love him regardless. Kind of like Job.

I wish we lived in a loving world but such is not the case. I guess to a certain extent we have to be willing to be both abased and abound, have evil like the parable of Lazarus and the rich man, and say "let the will of the Lord be done" in all things.

It's not easy but it's a blessing to know that he who has all power in heaven and earth will one day deliver us from this present evil world and take us to his kingdom where every tear shall be wiped away and we will sing praises to our Lord forever with no rememberance of this life to hinder our joy.

I love the way you phrase things, Kiddo! Great thoughts!

It's interesting that often people who have been through horrible times will say they came to feel closest to God during the worst of times. I do think it's because of finally getting to a point where you say, "No matter what happens, I love You anyway." Or "I can't get my mind around this. Maybe I'll never understand. But I love You still."
