Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy. Proverbs 31:8-9

I have been considering suffering of late, and the question of why this is at all necessary to our faith; after all, would we not all be more thankful and grateful if all our prayers were answered? What good does it to have us suffer? What glory does it bring to God? Why does suffering bring some closer to God and others, drive away? It is not something I understand. Don't get me wrong. I am just seeking GOD'S Mind in this. So it makes more sense. What makes sense to me is if we ask for something, we recieve it. But God is much Higher than my childish question, and I know that at least I will get SOME answer to it. One part of the puzzle that I do understand (not the WHOLE puzzle put together) is that WE cause suffering to others; we hurt them physically, mentally, sexually and emotionally. WE do not give when we have the resources to do it. Part of the suffering of the world is caused by our own lack of concern. I know that I am not giving everything I can give. I can't judge you because it is not my place, and perhaps you ARE giving all you can. But I know, in my own way, I have been a part of allowing suffering to the destitute and poor. In my own part of the world, I can do what I can to alleve that, yet I often do not.
Someday, my question may be answered in a way that I can understand and relate to. But for now, in my own part of the world, God give me the grace to defend the destitute and needy instead of closing my eyes!

I was just thinking the same thing myself the other day. I hope the holidays haven't gotten you down too much Ms. Blyth. I know it can be a really rough time for many.

Hi Blyth Smile,

We have meet at EC in CA remember?
Know I love to read your devotionals.
To be frank also I like when you write and share part of your life or comments you give in response of what is happening with us of out there in the world.
So take care Blyth & know you have a special place in my heart (Venezuela is the tie for this).

I agree with these ladies. I check everyday for your devotionals too. And I also like when you include a personal comment about how it applies or affects your own life.
You have a wonderful gift.
