Then I was a craftsman at His Side, I was filled with delight day after day, rejoicing always in His Presence, rejoicing in His Whole world and delighting in mankind. Proverbs 8:30-31
Those of you who are familiar with the Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis would know that Narnia was created by Aslan in the book, "The Magician's Nephew". Aslan, who is an alegory of Jesus Christ, brings the nephew to a void world and begins to sing a song of incredible beauty. Even the greatest classical works of the greatest masters would be like simple children's songs in comparison to this melody. From this, Narnia was brought forth. The music created the light, and the darkness, the animals, and the surrounding landscape. It was a beautiful mirror of God creating the earth. In this passage from Proverbs 8, wisdom is there during the Creation filled with delight, rejoicing and delighting in what God was doing. From the pictures that the Hubble sends back to us, I can catch a small glimpse of the glories of God's Creation. In an exquisite nebula, I can see the Finger of God the Artist creating it. In the galaxies and the endless stars, I can see the Power and Triumph of God's Genius. It is no wonder to me that wisdom describes the Creation in such wonderful terms. Science is simply a human explaination of what God has done so that we understand it better. Wisdom says that we should follow the lead and rejoice in His Creation. We should be filled with delight at the Work of His Hands. We should rejoice in His Presence, and delight in mankind made in His Image. So, when you see something beautiful that delights your eyes, when you are awestruck by the night sky, when you are struck speechless by the Aurora Borealis, remember Who Created these things and give Him Praise!
