So when someone says to you, God bless you, blessings or bless you....what does that mean to you?

Right from the book of Genesis we read about blessings. (Gen 12:3) To bless one another is to praise them, to make them happy.

Sometimes we bless God with our praises making Him happy. The book of Psalms is full of blessings to God for example.

Sometimes God blesses us (way more often than we bless Him I'm sure!) in so many different ways.

When someone blesses me I feel it in my heart.

When I say blessings to someone I mean I'm thinking of you, praying for you, that God will bless that person.

The reason this question came up was I heard someone say that when someone tells you "God bless you" it means that they are asking God to intervene in your life.....thought that was kind of neat.

Isn't "good-bye" supposed to be a shortened version of "God be with you"?

Rio,
We must watch the same shows.
Sounded like it made sense anyway. Basically saying God bless you means you're asking for God's will to be done in a person's life, right?

Well, God bless you Rio.... Wink

I have a friend who spent a year in Africa on a short term missions trip. When she came back she always used the phrase "Blessings on your head", apparently it's something they say there. I've always thought it was a great expression.
