The Word Became Flesh
The Word became Flesh
and made His Dwelling among us.
We have seen His
Glory, the Glory of the One and Only Who came from the Father, full of grace
and truth.
John 1:14
I
am quite sure I do not have an inkling of what I did when I accepted the
Lord; certainly I had a hunger for Him long before the words spilled from my
lips inviting Him into my heart. From reading Scripture I know, in my mind
that I will be with Him forever and not suffer death...but I am STILL sure I
don't have the slightest understanding of what I have done in the face of
eternity.
While I have had muted visions of the
Life Beyond, the fact that I will be in His Presence, constantly,
irrevocably, eternally still seems far off. Maybe even a little unreal.
Perhaps if it WAS more real to me I would be less likely to sin. I know that
when I am closest to God doing anything to disturb that connection is the
furthest thing from my mind.
Two thousand years ago, a Baby was born
on Earth. To some, it would seem that just another peasant had been added to
the teaming hordes. To another, a threatening Opponent that he assumed had
come to dethrone him. To yet others, under a brilliant star, a Savior lay
waiting to receive them. I think while everyone has had their own encounter
with Him, not of us knows the true impact of it.
Someday, in another time, in another
place, in a better world, we will fully understand this thing that we have
done. But right now, it lies wrapped under the Tree of Life, something that
we cannot even begin to comprehend....His Life a Gift to us.
